John Lewis "Jack" Curtis was born on 3 August 1913 in Brighton, Victoria, Australia, son of Margaret Winifred (Clancy) Curtis and Herbert George Owen Curtis.^{[citation needed]}

He married Carmel Mary Alencon Hansen on 9 January 1943 in Malvern, Victoria.^[1] They had two daughters.^{[citation needed]}

John died on 20 July 1972 in South Melbourne, Victoria.^[2]
