Sophia (Dagger) Thorne was born in Lancashire, England.

Sophia was born before 1887. She is the daughter of Butler Dagger and Esther Cardwell. Her birth was registered in the Jan-March quarter 1887.^[1] She was baptised on 3 April 1887 at Marton, Lancashire.^[2]

The 1901 Census lists Sophia Dagger as the 14 year old daughter of farmer Butler Dagger and his wife Esther. They are living in Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire with her brother Butler Dagger (11) and uncles Richard Cardwell, George Cardwell, William Cardwell and Aunt Jennett Cardwell.^[3]

Sophia Dagger married Richard Penswick in the Jan-Mar quarter 1910 at Fylde, Lancashire.^[4]

Sophia Dagger married George W Thorne in Oct-Dec quarter 1912 at Fylde, Lancashire.^[5]
