Biography

Olive baptized 13 August 1837 at Astbury, Congleton, married on 19 May 1873 at Manchester to Owen Appleton. Owen was a widower having first married Marie Parr 1827 -1871 in 1844, and having had nine children with her., In 1881 Owen 54 from Salford was a labourer living at Hulme near Manchester with Olive 43, Luke 20, Maria 15 and George 12 all born at Salford, and Daniel 7, Charles 4 and Joseph 2, all born at Hulme. Owen died on14 Feb 1887 at Prestwich. In 1891 Olive 53 was a washerwoman from Congleton, living at Hulme with Daniel 17 and Charles 14, both French polishers, and Joseph 13 a nipper. In 1901 Olive was a widow charwoman living in South Manchester with Daniel 27 a French polisher and Charles 24 a joiner. In 1911 Olive was an old age pensioner living with her son Daniel 37 a widower and his son Charles 5, at Hulme, South Manchester. Olive died in 1922 at Chorlton aged 85.
