Biography

Peter son of Edward D'Alton, Lt-General in the imperial service ... and Mary MacCarthy, eldest daughter of John MacCarthy, Esq of Springhouse, Co Tipperary. [1]

Peter D'Alton, a Count of the Holy Roman Empire born 18 May 1775, married 3 Dec 1795 to Hon. Rosalia Barnwell, daughter of Nicholas, late Lord Trimlestown ... high sheriff for Co Tipperary in 1839.

Rosalie and Peter Count D'Alton filed a bill in the Court of Chancery England on 23 Apr 1814 against her brother John Thomas Barnewall the 15th Baron Trimlestown, and her mother Lady Trimlestown. Suits and counter-suits were filed for many years as the deceased had created many different will and codicils.[4]

Letters of administration of the personal estate of Peter Count D'Alton late of Grenanstown, Co Tipperary, who died 23 Mar 1851 at Kildare st, Dublin, (left unadministered by William Power the substitute of a party having interest) granted 11 Dec 1875 at the principal registry to Hugh Power of Suir Lodge, Moincoin,Co Kildare, Esquire having interest. Effects under £ 5. [5]
