Biography

Martha (Dancey) Woods was born in Ireland.

Martha's birth year was about 1828-1831 based on census information. It is known she was born in Bailieborough Cavan Ireland as there is a record of her father Richard , as residing in Rakeevan townland Bailieborough. She had several half-siblings as her father remarried, and most of her full and half siblings emigrated to Canada or USA (primarily Illinois). Her children included Mary Ann m Robinson, Joseph Woods, Margaret Woods m John Reynolds, Martha Woods m James McGregor, Thomas Woods, and Samuel Woods, all born in Manvers, Durham Ontario.

In the years 1851-1871 at least, she is living in Durham, Ontario Canada with her husband Thomas Woods. By the 1891 Canadian census she is recorded as living in Victoria South, Ontario Canada.
