MR JOSEPH DAVISON.

There passed away suddenly yesterday afternoon at his residence, Winchester Street, Levin, a very old resident of the town in the person of Mr Joseph Davison. The deceased, who was 79 years of age, was born at Hogsthorpe, Lincoln, England, arrived in New Zealand !by the ship Halcione in 1875, landing at New Plymouth, where he resided for two years, afterwards taking up residence in Wanganui, where he married and lived for eleven years, prior to coming to Levin, where he has resided for nearly 45 years. For sixteen years he was engaged as engine driver by Messrs Prouse Bros., saw millers. He was a very old member of the Foresters' Lodge, having joined Court Roderick Dhu (Wanganui) fifty years ago. He passed through all the offices of the Lodge. He was also a foundation member of the local Lodge (Court Pride of Levin). He is survived by his widow and family of two daughters, Mrs J. Kehaly (Cambridge), and Mrs P. Unsworth (Wellington), and two sons, George (Northcote, Auckland), and Joe (Te Kuiti), to whom the sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended in their bereavement. The funeral will take place at the Levin cemetery on Sunday, leaving deceased's late residence at 2.30 p.m.
