Biography

Michael was born in 1917. He was the son of Paul Root Davison and Gladys Marie Hamm. In the 1930 census Michael (age 13) was the son of Paul R Davison in Manhattan, New York, New York, United States.[1] He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1939 and was assigned to the 12th US Cavalry.

Lt Davison married Jean Helen Miller on 29 June 1940 in El Paso, Texas, United States.[2] In the 1940 census Michael (age 23), soldier, was the married head of household in Brownsville, Cameron, Texas.[3]

With the arrival of World War II, then Major Davison was assigned to the 45th Infantry Division. In 1963 he was commandant of cadets at West Point. In 1970 he commanded the United States Second Field Force. In 1971 he planned and carried out the highly controversial invasion of Cambodia. From 1971–1975 he was Commander-in-Chief, US Army, Europe (CINC, USAREUR).

His wife Jean died on 15 December 1983 after 43 years of marriage. Michael (age 67) married Helen Marjorie Walker on 2 February 1985 in Alexandria, Virginia, United States.[4]

General Michael Davison died on 7 September 2006 and was buried in United States Military Academy Post Cemetery, West Point, Orange County, New York, United States.[5]
