Timothy Dawley was born in Ireland.
Timothy Dawley was a convict after the Third Fleet.

Arrived Sydney 22 Apr 1823 on ship 'Brampton', carrying 156 prisoners. A relative, Jeremiah Dawley is on the same ship.

Indent (Warrants of the lord Lieutenant) of “Brampton”: Timothy Dawley aged 30, ploughman, 5ft 3 inches tall. Native of Co Cork. Crime: Administering unlawful oaths. Native of Co Cork.

Finn’s Leinster Journal, 31 August 1822 page 2: Jer. Gavan, Jer. and Robt Quinlan [illegible] and Bryan McAuliffe, Anthony Gibbon [illegible but possibly Jer. Daly]] and Tim. Daly were tried and convicted under the Whiteboy Act for assaulting the habitation of Mat. Broughton, near Freemont, swearing him to quit his farm. The Court sentenced the prisoners to transportation for life but the jury having recommended the McAuliffes to the consideration of the Court his lordship stated that their cases would be attended to.

Timothy was also involved in the abduction of Miss Honora Goold mentioned in the Co Cork Assizes 23 Aug but not tried as already sentenced for the other crime. He was one of the Wellesley Boys: All the Cork men were identified as Whiteboys with both John Sullivan and Timothy Dawley both guilty of “heiress abduction and administering oaths” with the former obtaining respite from execution.

Colonial Secretary's papers:

DAWLEY, Timothy. (Per “Brampton”, 1823) 12/6/1823: Convict servant of Alexander McLeod. To be victualled from the Stores at Sydney for six months.
23/6/1823: Permitted to pass with cattle, sheep and horses to Alexander McLeod’s farm in the County of Northumberland; appears as Daley.
April and October 1824: On monthly returns of prisoners punished at Newcastle.
16/11/1824: On list of convicts transported to Port Macquarie per “Sally”.
April 1824: Assigned to Alexander McLeod. Sentenced to 25 lashes for frequently reporting himself sick and on being conveyed to the hospital, proved false. Newcastle.
18/10/1824: Assigned to Alexander McLeod. Sentenced by the bench at Wallis Plains to 100 lashes for refusing to work, threatening his overseer, and insolence to his master.

1828 Census: Age 35, Labourer, assigned to A Mcleod - Luskintyre.

17 June 1828 Petition to Governor Darling - Timothy Dawley, (Brampton 1823) Asking that his family be sent to the colony at the expense of the government. His wife is Honora Dawley alias McMahon of Freemont, County Cork and children Mary 11 and Norry 9. Recommended by his employer A McLeod

7/11/1833: Ticket of Leave Maitland

20 August 1838 birth of daughter Ellen: baptism 7 December 1838 East Maitland Roman Catholic, Ellen daughter of Timothy ‘Daley’ labourer & Johanna Welsh of Swan Reach.[1]

5 January 1839 Timothy’s wife Honora and daughter Mary arrive Sydney on the ship ‘Margaret’

1/2/1841: Conditional Pardon

1841 Death: Roman Catholic burial register, East Maitland: Timothy Dawly, abode Swan Reach [near Hinton], buried 19th October, age 43, ship Brampton, settler. [2]
