Married John G. Gallaspy before 1848, based on Census records & the birth of their first child. ^[2]

Rachel Ann Day, daughter of Mary Eliza Wroten and Henry Day, married ca 1848 to John G. Gallaspy, son of James Gallaspy and Elizabeth Guin. He was born 1818 in Madison County, Kentucky, and died of rheumatism in October1880, Newton County, Mississippi, according to the U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedule for 1880.^[3]

2. James Henry Gallaspy, born 31 October 1848, Chunkeyville, Lauderdale County, Mississippi—died 27 August 1882, Decatur, Mississippi; married Eliza McCormick Johnson, who following his death, married (2) Daniel Richard Mabry.
3. Mary Josephine Gallaspy, born 6 December 1853, Newton County, Mississippi—died 31 May 1914; married Henry Polk Scoggin
4. Garland Miller Gallaspy, born 12 October 1860, Newton County, Mississippi—died 10 May 1910, Decatur, Newton County, Mississippi. Often referred to as Garland Miller Gallaspy, he was a nephew of Garland Miller Gallaspy, Sr. He lived in Decatur and was married (1) to Roxianna Russell and (2) to Viola V. Virginia Horton.

1850 Census records show Rachael A. & Jno G. living in Southern District, Lauderdale County, Mississippi, with 2 children, Mary E. & James.

1870 Census records show Rachel A. & John G. living & farming in Township 6 Range 12, Newton County, Mississippi, with 3 children, James H.(21), Mary J.(16) & Garland(9). Also listed are Rachel's siblings, Victoria Day, William J. Day & Zachariah N. Day(with wife Emily C.). Others included are Isaac Kendric, Joseph D. Smith, Mallie & Lizzie Kidd.

1880 Census records show a widowed R.A. & son, Garland(19), living in Beat 1, Newton County, Mississippi.

1900 & 1910 Census records show an elderly Rachel living in the home of son, Garland Miller, & his wife, Viola, in Beat 1/Decatur, Newton County, Mississippi.
