Mary Ann was a member of her husband's party of 1820 settlers who sailed in the Nautilus to the Colony:
MANDY, John 32. Carpenter. w Mary Ann 29. c John Wilkinson 6, Stephen Day 5, William (born at sea).
The family experienced considerable hardships, as did all the settlers, before John Mandy moved from Bathurst to Grahamstown in about 1825. Mary Ann did not live long to enjoy the more comfortable life of the larger town. She died on 13 February 1826[3] and is buried in the Grahamstown Old Cemetery: [4][5]
