Louisa was born in 1834. [1] She was the daughter of James Dew and Elizabeth (Bentfield) Dew.
At the time of the 1841 Census Louisa is living in Kingston upon Thames with her parents, sister Elizabeth (10y) and brother James (4y).[2]
She married William Steere in Kingston upon Thames on 25 December 1854.[3][4][5]
Louisa and William emigrated to New Zealand on the Caroline Angus arriving at Lyttelton on 17 August 1855. Louisa's parents and brother James emigrated with them.[6][7]
She passed away in May 1909, aged 74 years,[8] and is buried in Linwood Cemetery, Christchurch.[9]
Research Notes
There is a Fanny Steere recorded on the passenger list of the Caroline Angus. This may be Willam's sister Frances - needs more research to confirm.[10]
