Biography

Elizabeth Dinsmore was born in 1832 in Ireland. Her birth year is consistent from enumerations of her age as recorded in the 1850 & 1860 Federal Censuses, her recorded ages being respectively 18 and 28 those years. Elizabeth was the daughter and 2nd child of Samuel Hugh and Margaret Jane (Thompson) Dinsmore (aka Densmore). Sometime between 1843 and 1846, Elizabeth immigrated from Ireland with her parents, grandmother, and siblings.

Elizabeth married Jotham Lincoln Sprague about 1853 in Charlotte, Washington, Maine. She was his 2nd wife of Jotham. Elizabeth and Jotham had four children: Mary J. b. abt. 1854; Jotham L. Jr. (abt. 1859); James D. b. 1860); and James C. b. October 15, 1865.

Elizabeth passed away on October 16, 1865 in Charlotte, Washington, Maine. ^[1] Her death is likely the result of childbirth complications from birthing her son, James C., on October 15, 1865. Elizabeth is buried there at the Round Pond Cemetery marked with headstone inscribed "Sprague." ^[2]
