Edward was born about 1831 in Wiltshire England. He accompanied his parents and siblings to South Australia on the "Fairlie" in 1840 and lived in the Onkaparinga River district where his father was a herdsman. In later years when the township of Clarendon was commenced, he had an 80 acre farm near the town. He married a Clarendon girl, 15y/o Mary Jane Bilney in Clarendon in 1852. Edward was a bullock driver. He also was a lay preacher at the Bible Christian Chapel in ClarendonChapel for about 50 years until it closed in 1900. He then preached at the Methodist Church until his very old age. Edward died in 1913 and was buried at Clarendon-Kangarilla Cemetery. His widow, Mary Jane died in 1914 and was buried with him.
