She lived with her parents and siblings in Sithney, Cornwall, England. In 1861 she was aged 15 and single. Her occupation was recorded as Shop Girl.

Edith married William James.

She and her husband emigrated from England to New Zealand, departing on 10 October 1874 on the ship Warwick. They arrived into Auckland on 2 February 1875.^[3]

They appear to have had no children.

Her husband passed away in 1927.

Edith passed away in 1936 at the age of 91.
