In 1863 a memorial was erected in St Mary's Church, Whitby, in memory of the twelve fishermen who perished on 9 February 1861, when the lifeboat they were crewing capsized.

Isaac's death (age 35) was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1861 in the Whitby district.[7] Isaac was buried on 12 February 1861 in Whitby: St Mary, Yorkshire, England. His age was unfortunately wrongly recorded as 27, but the note under the entry reads "Drowned Life Boat Capsized"[8]
