George Dodd was born in Lancashire, England.

George was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, on May 6, 1897. He was the first, of four children, born to John Dodd, and Mary Carty. His parents presented him for Baptism on June 23, 1897, at Saint Gabriel Church, in Liverpool. George married Janet Evelyn Turnbull in Liverpool, in 1927. The couple would have a daughter, Evelyn, in 1931.

George became a policeman who was decorated for Gallantry and Bravery. The first of these awards came from the Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society, where George received both a Proclamation, and Gold Medal for Bravery. The Proclamation reads as follows:

"For having, with great gallantry, rescued three women and two children who were trapped in a burning house, in Burnley Street, on the 22nd June, 1939.

His second decoration was received in Buckingham Palace, where he received the King's Police Medal for Gallantry, presented by the King.

George passed away in July, 1945 in Liverpool North. He was buried on July 23rd at West Derby Cemetery, Section B Grave 910.
