Research Note
There is no birth registration in the GRO index for a Jonathan Donkin with a mother's name of Moss. There is a birth registration for a Jonathan Donkin in 1843. The mother's maiden name is Morgan. [3] Jonathan's aunt is Mary (Morgan) Donkin. I can find no evidence of William and Mary Donkin having a child called Jonathan in the census records. I cannot find a death registration of a child called Jonathan that could be theirs. It is possible that there is a mistake in the GRO index, or that Jonathan's birth was registered by a relative who gave the wrong maiden name for his mother.
