Research Notes
Place of Birth
Doremustown: The area around the extensive Doremus estate (in present Montvale, New Jersey) was called Doremustown. It is referred to as such in the NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES INVENTORY -NOMINATION FORM (Section 8, page 2). This location is cited in several family genealogies and letters from members of the Doremus family from that period. For this reason, I have used the same name. (Arthur Van Riper,24 Dec 2021)
