Biography
Howard "Pete" Springs Dorton, 66, of 3217 Trinity Church Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord. The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. J. George Gilbert Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Mr. Dorton was born Feb. 9, 1940, in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Elton King Dorton and the late Laura Mesimer Dorton Morris. He had been employed by Cannon Mills as a Loom Fixer and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Concord. Mr. Dorton loved to fish and watch Duke basketball. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Elaine Dorton. Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Barbee) Dorton of the home; sons, Jeff Dorton of Concord and Scott Dorton of Davidson; daughter, Penny (Dorton) Carawan of Kannapolis; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family meeting place will be 3217 Trinity Church, Road, Concord. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 3747 Trinity Road, Concord NC 28027, American Heart Association, 222 S.
