Samuel was born on 13 October 1858 in Swan, Western Australia.[1][2]
He married Theresa Alice Barron on 2 May 1885 in Perth.[3][4]
With his brothers Samuel managed their father's farm at Wandering until 1890. He was a contract carter to the goldfields and bought his own farm of 2,000 acres, "Blackboy Gully". He was a licensed victualler (1888-1889 Almanac).[4]
Death of an Old Settler. Mr. Samuel Dowsett passed away at his place of resi-dence, Blackboy Gully, Wandering, on January 4. Deceased, who was 59 years of age, was born at Guildford and came to Wandering in the year 1863. After being connected with the sandalwood industry, he settled down to agricultural pursuits, and was one of the old pioneers who have done so much to make Wandering one the most thriving districts in the South West. The late Mr. Dowsett took a great interest in the welfare of the district, and although never connected to any great ex tent with any of the public bodies he did much that will make his life long remembered. Deceased leaves a widow and grown-up family.[5]
Samuel was buried at the Wandering Catholic Churchyard, Wandering, Western Australia[6].
