Robert Allen Driver

DRIVER, Robert Allen Age 71, of Roseburg, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 1997 at his home. He was born January 1, 1926 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Gale E. and Mable A. (Snider) Driver. Mr. Driver attended and graduated from the Indiana University Medical School in 1949. Dr. Driver completed his internship at King County Hospital in Seattle, Washington and his Surgical residency at the VA Hospital in Portland, Oregon. On November 26, 1948 in Fort Wayne, Indiana he married Gloria Stowell. Dr. Driver served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1953 as an Assistant Surgical Officer. In 1958 the Driver's moved to Roseburg. He worked for the VA Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Douglas Community Hospital and had a private Surgical Practice until his retirement in 1974. Dr. Driver was a member of the Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Survivors include: his wife, Gloria Driver of Roseburg; daughters, Susan Bradley and her husband Don of Tigard, Oregon and Nancy Lee Congdon and her husband Rob of Zambia, Africa; sons, Tim Driver and his wife Kay of Medford, Oregon, Mark Driver and his wife Cathy of Roseburg, Oregon, Matthew Driver and his wife Jo Carol also of Roseburg, Oregon, and David Driver and his wife Marcie of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; “Jude” Driver of Portland, Oregon; uncles, Milton Driver of Lima, Ohio, and Bryon Snider MD of Rancho Bernardo, California,; 23 grandchildren, Debi Driver, Cori Driver, Brandon Driver, Kadi Driver, Stevi Driver, Jaimi Sullivan, Kelli Sullivan, Brett Sullivan, Ben Driver, Megan Driver, Daniel Driver, Michael Driver, Samuel Driver, Joel Driver, Spencer Bradley, Ellen Bradley,Brian Driver, Emily Driver, Robert Congdon, Thomas Congdon, Timothy Congdon Stephen Congdon and James Congdon. Memorial services will be held Friday, April 25, 1997 at 11:00 A.M., at the First Conservative Baptist Church. Pastor Steve Walker of Redeemer's Fellowship will officiate. Interment will be in the Lewis Grove Cemetery in Lima, Ohio. Those who wish may pay their respects this afternoon until 5:00 P.M., at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. At the family's request, contributions may be made in Dr. Robert Driver's memory to R. Congdon c/o AFE, P.O. Box 411167, Charlotte, North Carolina 28241, or may be left at WILSON'S CHAPEL OF THE ROSES, who is in charge of arrangements.
