After attending a private school, and receiving his medical training in Edinburgh, Robert received his medical licence and spent time abroad. He attended lectures and did medical training in Paris, Vienna, Berlin, and Dublin.
He married Emilia Anne Sinclair in 1842.[2] He married a second time in 1864 to Dora Anna Berger.[3]
Medical Practice
Upon his return to the UK, he set up a medical practice in Liverpool, in 1843. Thanks to fellow medical students, he was introduced to homeopathy, and did further training abroad before establishing a homeopathic practice in London.
For a time Robert edited the British Journal of Homœopathy; helped found the Hahnemann Hospital and school of homœopathy in Bloomsbury Square, and held positions in the British Homœopathic Society and International Homœopathic Congress.
