Biography
Jane Duncan, daughter of John Duncan and Margaret Duff was born about 1858. Margaret Duff and John Duncan are not married. Jane lists both parents on her marriage register.
The census of 1861 has the mother of Jane Duncan (Margaret Duff, age 23) living in Botriphney, Scotland in the McWillie household working as a domestic servant. The same census has her father, John Duncan, also living in Botriphney as a farmer age 24, and Jane Duncan age 2 living as a boarder with the Dey family in Botriphney. There is no absolute proof, but I believe this is the John Duncan who is Jane's biological father. National Records of Scotland Census 148.
At some stage Jane married Andrew Stephen and their son Andrew Stephen Junior was born at Kintore, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on 19th May 1892.
Jane died on 30th October 1895. [1] Jane married Andrew Stephen 1881-12-07 Inverurie Scotland, National Records of Scotland Statutory Register of Marriages 204/ 20.
