Ida Annis Dusenberry was born on 24 January 1870 in Knox county, Ohio, the daughter of William Dusenberry (1840-1914) of Coshocton county and Matilda Almedia Shrimplin (1848-1929) of Knox county, both in Ohio. In 1870, she was living with her older brother and parents in Butler township of Knox county, Ohio.[1] She was joined by four sisters in the 1880 US Census, still in Butler township.[2]
On 3 November 1888, she married James Hicks in Coshocton county, Ohio.[3] She became the step-mother to James' four children; Harry 17, Willard 14, Lunda 13 and Ada Maud 3. She and James had three children; Dolly 1889, James (Jr.) 1893 and Irvin Robert 1895.[4]
At the age of 27, and after being married only nine years, Ida died on 5 June 1897. Her burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery in Wheeling of Ohio county in West Virginia.[5]
