Biography

Vilinda Dye was born on March 18, 1844 in Noble Township, Morgan County, Ohio.[1] She was the daughter of Ezekial Dye and Mary.[2][3][1] Vilinda married Howard B. Newton on October 9, 1865 in Noble County, Ohio.[4] Their first child, Addie O. Newton was born in Ohio.[5] They moved to Miami County, Kansas shortly after Addie's birth.[5] The next child who lived into adulthood, Katie Newton, was born in Kansas.[6] Their last known child, Ellis J. Newton, is listed as age 21 in 1902.[7] He dies of tuberculosis on June 5, 1905 in Leavenworth, Kansas.[7][8] Vilinda dies on September 20, 1893 and is buried in Springhill Cemetery, Spring Hill (Johnson County), Kansas.[1]
