Biography
Stephen was born about the year 1753 and orphaned, according to a Worcester Court proceeding that legally bound him (at age 16) to Stephen Beauchamp until the age of 21[1]. In the document, Stephen was to "learn the the trade of Art of mystery of a cooper". Stephen was indentured the same year (1769) as Philip Buley, also of Worcester County and orphaned, whose family (Buley) were closely associated.
By 1783, Stephen is living in Worcester County, So. First District Wicomico Hundred, and under his security is Titus Buley, the younger brother of Philip [2].
