• In the 1870 census, Amanda's sister-in-law, Mary and her husband, Elisha are enumerated in the same household in Shannon County, Missouri. Through extensive research of John's and Elisha's children's census records, death certificates and obituaries, it has been determined that the children in the 1870 census belonging to Mary are, Leroy B., Abraham [Absolam], Adaline, Elisabeth, Jane and Jonah [Iona]. The children belonging to Elisha are Nelson, Katy, Anna, Alexander, and Edward.
• In the 1870 census, Amanda is enumerated along with her daughter, Martha Elizabeth Wallen in her father, William Eaton's household in St. Francois County, Missouri.
• In the 1880 census, Amanda is enumerated in her brother Jesse N. Eaton's household in St. Francois County, Missouri. Her husband, Elisha is living by himself and boarding in Pueblo County, Colorado.
