(Excerpts from "Edson Family History and Genealogy," Vol VII, Carroll Andrew Edson, Ann Arbor, MI, 1969, pg 1071): Sarah Knowlton was connected by marriage with his [Isaac] first wife, her brother, Alanson Knowlton, being a brother-in-law of Lydia A. Crofut. Isaac graduated from the Philadelphia Medical College in 1861, and from the Albany Medical College in 1867. He joined the Broome Co. Medical Society in October, 1866, was President of it, 1870-71, and was a delegate to the State Medical Society in 1882-84. He was surgeon. He was very prominent in the town, was a Town Supervisor, and Coroner. He had the title "Honorable." He donated to Windsor, N. Y. its Town Hall, a brick buildng."

(Records of Quentin Cabell Smith): Isaac's 4th Cousin, once removed, Alma Pearl Edson ("Aunt Pearlie,") was a life-long friend of the mother of the writer, starting before 1900 in Washington, D.C. The relationship connection by Lydia Crofut, sister of the writer's paternal great grandmother, was first discovered in 2005.
