Dave was born in 1939. He passed away in 2016.

From Bio on FindAGrave: Professional Football Player. For thirteen seasons (1963 to 1975), he played at the linebacker position in the National Football League with the Dallas Cowboys. Born David Monroe Edwards, he attended Abbeville High School in Alabama and later played collegiate football at Auburn University, where he achieved All-SEC status. Selected by the Denver Broncos during the 25th round of the 1962 AFL Draft, he ended up with Dallas of the NFL. Along with Chuck Howley, D.D. Lewis and Lee Roy Jordan, Edwards formed the linebacking core of what became know as Dallas' "Doomsday Defense". He was a contributor to Dallas' capturing of the NFC Title in 1970, which led to an appearance in Super Bowl V against the Baltimore Colts in January 1971 which resulted in a loss. The following season (1971), he experienced a Super Bowl (VI) championship when the Cowboys defeated the Miami Dolphins in January 1972. He was a member of the Dallas team which captured the NFC Title in December 1975, which resulted in a Super Bowl (X) lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in January 1976. Edwards totaled 181 career regular season games and only missed one contest during the course of his career. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1988.
