Biography

Name: Elizabeth Edwards. Given Name: Elizabeth. Surname: Edwards.

Born 11 APR 1883. Earlstown, Lancashire. [1] [2] [3]

Died 1951 Blackpool, Lancashire. Note: Dorothy:She died of a brain tumour while out shopping 1953/4  in Blackpool. She was cremated at Carleton Blackpool. [4]

FSFTID L17Z-1Z8.

Note: Known by Dorothy. Birth date and location known from 1911 census married to Frank Mudd. Father is Peter known from her marriage to James Cheer. Dorothy:  As far as I know her name was Elizabeth Cheer / Mudd  nee Edwards, she came from Wales something like Mona Dyssa ?. Her husband was James Mudd - I should imagine they would have married at Ainsworth Parish Church. Her parents - no idea and I think she came from Wales into service ( Maybe with the Mudd family ?? ). She spent her younger days in service,  I don’t remember her husband - he died before I was born. During the war she had a boarding house in Blackpool. She had American officers stationed there, which was great for me as I got chocolates and chewing gum when I was there on holiday.  I spent all the school holidays there.  She also had refugees staying there. .

Census: 1901 Leigh, Lancashire. [5]

Occupation: Servant. 1901 Leigh, Lancashire. [6] Grocers Shop. 1924 Southport, Lancashire.

Living 1933 Birkdale, Lancashire. [7] BEF 1937. Southport, Lancashire. 1945–1949 Southport, Lancashire. Note: Dorothy: <b><i> After the war she had a shop in Southport. She was remarried then - I don’t know the date. After Grandad Cheer died (I can’t remember his first name), she had a house on Ainsdale Road, Southport. 1949 Blackpool, Lancashire. Note: <i><b>Dorothy<b><i>: Grandma Cheer ran a B and B in Carshalton Road, Blackpool with Ethel Brooks from 1938. <i><b>Dorothy<b><i>:  My Grandma Cheer wanted me to go and live with her. Because I was her only grandchild, she only had the one son, Grandad Mudd. I used to spend all my summer holidays with her, in Blackpool, Southport where she lived. But, of course, my mother wouldn't let me go, so they compromised and they went into partnership together in a boarding house.  So she got me to live with her in around-about way.

Buried 1951 Blackpool, Lancashire. Note: Dorothy says she was cremated at Carleton.
