HARRIET ELIZABETH ELROD was born on 1857. She was the daughter of GEORGE WASHINGTON ELROD and HARRIET ELIZABETH MARY McPHERSON.

HENRY "Harry" STEPHENS KINSEY, born 22 May 1849 in Van Buren Township, Kosciusko, Indiana—died in

Seattle, King, Washington, buried in Washington.

The ranch was known as "the Cottonwoods" "on the plains" in 1869. If that's true, it will be difficult to locate him in Census Records.

Grandmother [HARRIET] gathered all the little Indian children to come to his school. She spoke some Indian language I had been told." Mrs. Lola Remaklus brothers [Henry, Jacob, Edward & Noah] listed their occupations as painters [in the 1880 census]. While they were proving up on the Cottonwoods homestead, they spent winters at the silver mines near Bellevue, Idaho. Besides hunting to supply food for the miners, he was a paperhanger, painter, and also, of all things, made candy. He certainly had a great deal of "yankee ingenuity."
