From the Canada Census, 1871 we know that George was born about 1840 in England. [1]
The census shows him living with his wife Ann, and children William, Mary, Jane, and Ann in Dumfries, York, New Brunswick. [2]
He married Ann Arbuckle on 1 Jan 1862 in the parish of Manners Sutton, New Brunswick (see original document) [3] Robert Embleton and Matilda Arbuckle were witnesses.
They had at least six children: William (1862), Mary (1865) , Jane (1869), George (1872), Ann (1871), and according to William's headstone an infant son who died March 4, 1876.
