Ole was born in 1847. He was the son of Esten Hansen Skrædderhougen and Mille Olsdatter Enget. His parents never married, and he would come to live with his father. He married Judita Larsdatter Bukplass on June 7, 1872. They lived for a short time at Skrædderhoug before leaving Alvdal in August of 1873. They arrived in Wisconsin and settled in the W 1/2 of the SW 1/4 of Section 21 of Spring Lake Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin. They owned 80 acres of farmland. In America they went under the surname Hanson, which was the patronymic name of Ole's father, Esten Hansen. They lived near other Alvdal immigrant families, such as Esten Steien (Stein). He passed away on May 9, 1901, and was buried in Spring Lake Lutheran Cemetery.
