Biography

Aaron Ronnie Evans was born on September 28, 1882 in Columbus, Lowndes, Mississippi. He is the son of Matthew Andrew Jackson Evans and Emma C. Herringdine. [1] [2]

Aaron's mother Emma passed away on May 21, 1887 in Columbus, Lowndes, Mississippi. [3]

Aaron's father Matthew passed away on October 2, 1891 in Columbus, Lowndes, Mississippi. [4]

Aaron served in the U.S. Navy from November 14, 1903 to July 17, 1905 with a rating of Coal Passer. He joined from Heber Springs, Arkansas. [5] [6]

Aaron Ronnie Evans married first Nellie Omega Martin on March 3, 1909 in Houston, Harris, Texas with the Rev. S. A. Tharp officiating.. [7]

The 1910 Houston City Directory listed Aaron as living at 1809 Lyle in Area 2. [8]

The 1917 Houston City Directory listed Aaron as a laborer and living at 1809 Lyle in Area 2. [9]

Aaron, age 35, registered for the World War I draft on September 12, 1918 in Houston, Harris, Texas. He was living with his wife Nellie in Harrisburg, Harris, Texas. His occupation was listed as night watchman with Houston Construction Co. in Harrisburg, Harris, Texas. His height was listed as medium, his build as medium, his eye color as blue and his hair color as light. [10]

The 1920 Federal Census, taken February 27th, listed Aaron, age 37, as living with his wife Nellie and a "boarder" Patrick Coyne on Gibbons Street in Harrisburg, Harris, Texas. His occupation was listed as special officer with an oil refinery. [11]

The 1925 Houston City Directory listed Aaron as a night watchman and living with his wife Nellie on the south side of Gibbons Street, 1 house east of Smith in Harrisburg. [12]

The marriage ended when Aaron and Nellie were divorced prior to September 1926. Nellie then married Patrick J. Coyne, the "boarder," on September 23, 1926 in Harrisburg, Harris, Texas. [13]

Aaron Ronnie Evans married second Mrs. Mary F. Stockholm on September 27, 1926 in Harris County, Texas. [14]

The 1930 Federal Census, taken April 17th, listed Aaron, age 47, as living with his wife Mary in Precinct 1, Montgomery, Harris, Texas. His occupation was listed as a poultry farmer. [15]

On April 27, 1942, Aaron, age 59, registered for the World War II Draft in Houston, Harris, Texas. His residence and place of employment was listed as Westfield, Harris, Texas. He listed his wife Mrs. Mary Evans, Route 1, Box 36, Spring, Texas as someone who would always know his address. His height was listed as 5'-4-1/2", his weight as 155 pounds, his eye color as blue, his hair color as red and his complexion as light. [16]

Aaron Ronnie Evans married third Nevada E. Franklin after 1944 in Texas.

The marriage ended when Aaron's wife Nevada passed away on December 5, 1960.

Aaron passed away on September 23, 1970 at the Veterans Administration Center in Bonham, Fannin, Texas at age 87. [17] [18] His usual address was Route 2, Hale Center, Hale, Texas. He was buried on September 25, 1970 in Smyrna Cemetery in Dodd City, Fannin, Texas. [19] [20]
