Lillian was born 26 Jul 1887 ^[1] at Credenhill, Herefordshire, England. Her parents were David Evans, a railway station master, and Gwenllian Williams. Her father's work saw the family living in the area of Keighley, Yorkshire in the 1910s.

In 1917 in Keighley, she married John Budd.^[2]

In May 1919 she sailed aboard the Ruahine to New Zealand. Her address was Station House, Steeton, Keighley. (John was not on the same sailing). ^[3] The couple welcomed two children in New Zealand: Margaret (1919) and Kathleen (1921).

Lillian, Margaret and Kathleen visited England in 1923. They departed again on 29 November 1923, sailed to New Zealand via Sydney aboard the S.S. Benalla. Her brother David (who had emigrated to New Zealand many years earlier, but was also visiting England) was on the same sailing; husband John was not. ^[4]

As of 1925, John and Lillian lived at Cloverlea Settlement, Palmerston North. ^[5]

She passed away 19 October 1978 at Palmerston North. ^{[6] [1]}
