Biography

The Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan from 1922 to 1939.

Hiram Wesley Evans was born September 26, 1881 in Ashland, Alabama, United States. He was the son of Hiram Martin Evans and Georgia.

In 1900, he became a dentist.

In 1921, Evans was elected into a recruiting position in the Dallas Klan No. 66. He was also appointed to the position of executive of the "Realm of Texas".

In 1921, Evans was assigned to oversee the Klan's national membership drive. In 1922, the group's leadership made Evans the "Imperial Kligrapp," a role similar to national secretary, in which capacity he oversaw operations in 13 states.

In 1923, he married Ellen "Bama" Hill. Together they had three children.

Evans died September 14, 1966 in Atlanta, Fulton, Georgia, United States.
