Biography

Johanna Hansdatter was born 3 January 1859 to parents Hans Evensen and Bertha Gudmunsdatter[1] who married after the birth of their first child on 21 January 1859.

She was baptized 30 January 1859.

Family at Molstadengen, Ringsaker in census 1865[2]

She emigrated to the US with her mother and 3 siblings in 1873.

Johanna's first husband was Nikolai Larson. They were the parents of:

Nikolai Larson drowned in the James River about 1881, 17 years before Norway Church and Cemetery was founded in 1898. The other nearby church was the James River Lutheran Church and cemetery which was founded in 1871.

The WPA Graves Registration project, completed in 1941, includes Nikolai Larson as buried at the First James River Norsk Lutheran Cemetery but does not include a DOD. According to the WPA Graves Registration Project, the First James River Norsk Lutheran Cemetery was located in Jamesville Township, T96N R56W - Section 18. The cemetery was founded in 1878, but was abandoned before 1940. The land was plowed in 1940 for the first time since 1878.

Johanna's second husband was Ole Larson whom she married about 1882. It is not known whether Nels Larson was any relation to Nikolai Larson. They were the parents of

Carl and Nels are buried at the Norway Cemetery. It is not known where husband Ole or son John is buried.

Johanna's third husband was Gudmond Holman whom she married about 1899. They were the parents of:

Johannah (Evenson-Larson-Larson) Gudmond is buried in the Norway Cemetery, currently Our Savior's West Cemetery. It is not known where Gudmond Holman was buried.[3]
