You are correct that Martha F Ewald married Aaron Leslie (or Leslie Aaron) Whitmer on January 18, 1912. Leslie was the president of Providence Loan Association. They had no children, but they raised the three children of her brother Otto. Leslie died Aug. 30, 1940 in Sioux City and he is buried at Graceland Park in Sioux City. Martha died in 1968 and she is also buried at Graceland Park. I have photos of their markers. The three children's names are Orville Ewald, Walter Ewald, and Marie Ruth Ewald. Their father, Otto, died in an industrial elevator accident in 1914. Orville, 1909-1945, married Helen Henderson. He died in a plane crash. Walter, 1912-1973, married Dorsey Flannery, and Marie Ruth, 1915-1970, married Thomas Ibsen Thompson.

Sioux City Journal , 23 April 1945. Funeral services for Orie O. Ewald, 35, 18 Terra Alta Court apartments, vice president of the Provident Loan association, who died Saturday night of injuries suffered when his plane crashed near Crystal lake Saturday afternoon, will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the First Congregational church. Rev. George C. Pullman, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Park cemetery under direction of Perasso Bros. funeral home. Pallbearers will be Douglas Carlson, John Thomen, Chris DeHaven, Carlton Corbett, Wilbur Neilsen, and J. B. Lee. At the time of the accident Mr. Ewald was on a routine operational flight for the civil air patrol, of which he was operational officer in the superior service and squadron commander.

Leslie's father was Morris Peter Whitmer, the son of Josiah Whitmer. I am a descendant of Josiah Whitmer through his daughter Lettie Jane. I hope this filled in your gaps.
