Mary Anne Fagan, usually known as Marianne, was born about 1827 in Kinsale, Co. Cork. She was the daughter of James Fagan and Mary Kieronon.
She married Henry Hewitson McMinnies on May 18 1846 at Woosung, China. They later lived in England where they had five children between 1847 and 1855.
Henry He died in 1878 and Mary Anne remained a widow for the rest of her life.
She moved to Dublin, Ireland, to be near her daughter (Mary "Mia") who had entered the Carmelite Monastery, Kilmacud with the religious name Mother Mary Michael. Mary Anne was given the very unusual permission by Cardinal McCabe, Archbishop of Dublin, to have a room in the Monastery. She was always careful not to cause any distraction to the nuns. She loved the community and supplied treats for feast days. She took great interest in the new chapel and gave several gifts including the guilt-plate tabernacle door. She was listed on the Monastery census in 1901.[1]
Mary Anne died on 11th March 1903 consoled by the presence of her daughter, She is buried in the cemetery of the Carmelite Monastery.[2]
