John and his wife Mary Howard, eldest daughter of Charles Howard Earl of Carlisle had three sons and a daughter. Jane the eldest died very young, Charles at the age of 15 died of small pox, William and Howard were 6 and a year and a half when they died.
John was beheaded on tower-hill in 1697 for conspiring against William III in support of James II.
The children and John are all buried at St Martin in the field. Jane was buried in St Nicholas in Newcastle.
