Biography
Unknown Ferguson was born around 1780 (estimated based on daughter's marriage in 1829).
He ran a coal trading and shipowning business in Sandy Row, Bangor, County Down. [1]
Research Notes
"The Ferguson family were prominent local merchants and Agnes' father had a coal business, which he carried on from Sandy Row (the present Queen's Parade) at the spot where the Queen's Cinema now is. A petition of 1813 calling for improvements to Bangor Harbour was signed by three master mariners named Ferguson, Hugh, James and John, while in later years Thomas Ferguson and John Austin Ferguson, owned and commanded sailing vessels."
