Elisha Field was born February 19, 1781, in Leverett, Massachusetts, the son of Deacon Jonathan Field and Elizabeth (Cooley) Field. At the time of Elisha's birth, Leverett was part of Hampshire county. Franklin County was created on 24 June 1811 from the northern third of Hampshire County.
On November 18, 1806, Elisha married Persis Hubbard, daughter of Caleb T. Hubbard and Tryphena (Montague) Hubbard. Elisha and Persis settled in Deerfield, where they became the parents of at least ten children. For additional information about the children, see his wife's profile.
Persis (Hubbard) Field died February 4, 1857, in Deerfield and was buried in the Pine Nook cemetery, there. On the United States Census of 1860, Elisha was living in the household of his son, Jonathan Spencer Field and his wife Sarah (Cobb) Field and three of their children, in Deerfield, Franklin county, Massachusetts. He was 79 years of age. [1]
Elisha died August 24,1865, in Deerfield and was buried with his wife in Pine Nook cemetery. [2]
