Biography

Joy was born about 1926.

Joy Fillmore was born on October 3, 1925, in Baie Verte, New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of Frederick Fillmore and Flora Mercer.

She trained as a nurse and worked at the Sackville, NB, General Hospital. It was there that she met Robert J. Vardy, a young university student at Mount Allison, and they were married in 1949. ^[1]

Joy passed away peacefully at the Health Science Complex, in St John's, Newfoundland on December 6, 2014. She was 89 years old. Joy was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Vardy in 1992. The funeral service took place at Barrett’s Funeral Home in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on December 12, 2014, ^[2] with interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. ^[3]
