Andrew Roy "Roy" Finch was born in 1890 in Amherstburg, Malden, Essex, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of William Finch and Sarah Jeffery. His father was a laborer.[1]
In 1901 they were living in Brantford, Brant, Ontario, Canada. His father had a farm and was working on his own account.[2] Andrew's father William passed away in 1902.
In 1911 they were living with their widowed mother Sarah in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. George and Roy were working as laborers and their older sister Winnifred was working in a dressmaker's shop to help support their family.[3]
In 1911 Andrew/Roy married Ethel Louise Bonner in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada. Ethel was 20 yrs. old and also resided in Hamilton. She was the daughter of Joseph Bonner (of England) and Isabella Fuller (of Ontario).
They were married by P W Philpott.[4][5] Children:

There is a white cross by his gravestone with the inscription ""757689 - Sgt. Roy Finch M. M. - 19th Batt'n - Age 50 1941"
Andrew Roy enlisted 24 January, 1916 with the 120th Bn, (City of Hamilton Battalion). He was sent overseas with the 19th Bn CEF and his theatre of war was France. They were demobilized May 24, 1919. Andrew was described as: age 25, married, 5'9" tall, dark complexion, brown eyes, brown hair, and Methodist faith.[6]
In 1921 they were living in Hamilton, Ontario where Andrew was working as a filler in a Fireworks factory. They had three children at that time: Evelyn, Fred, and Laurine Finch. Their faith was Methodist, and they were living in their own brick house on 8 Dundurn N.[7] Sadly, in 1926 their one year old daughter Barbara Finch passed away from complications of measles.[8]
Roy passed away (age 50-52), about 1941, likely in Ontario. Ethel passed away later; in 1951. They are both buried in Woodland Cemetery in Hamilton, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.[9]
