At the time of the Swedish census 1940 Else Marie Fischer lived on Kungsholmen in Stockholm with her mother, Eivor Fischer. Else Marie was born in Melbourne Australia 1 March 1918. She is registered as a dance artist.[1]
Else Marie Fisher married Ingmar Bergman 25 March 1943. They had a daughter in December. Ingemar found employement at Helsingborgs stadsteater and the family is registered as living in Helsingborg from November 1944; Else and the child moving back to Stockholm Kungsholm in September 1945.[2] However Else Fisher and the child were only formally registered in Helsingborg. According to Bergman in his autobiography, they were both being treated for tuberculosis, Else in a private sanatorium and the daughter in a children's hospital.[3]
According to the Swedish census 1960 Else Marie Fisher-Bergman lived in Stockholm S:t Göran, divorced since 25 February 1947. She was registered as a director.[4] Else Fisher was a pioneer in Children's theatre, responsible for many years for Skolbarnsteatern in Stockholm.[5]
Else Marie Fisher-Bergman died in Stockholm S:t Göran 3 March 2006.[6]
