Biography

Georgiana was born on 20 September 1854 at Swines Green in Beccles in Suffolk. She was the daughter of Abraham Fisk and Phillis Easey. [1]

Georgiana was baptised on 12 December 1856 in Beccles.

Georgiana married John Jarman, a joiner, on 29 August 1876 in the Congregational Chapel at London Road in Lowestoft in Suffolk. Her sister Rosa was one of the official witnesses. [2]

Georgiana and John had five children: Henry John (born 1877); Herbert William (1879); Gertrude Rose (1881); Mabel Mary (1885); and Florence Lill (1888).

The 1881 EW Census records Georgiana living at 17 Raglan Street West in Lowestoft, Suffolk with her husband John (occupation given as joiner) and two sons Henry and Herbert. Also staying with them are Georgiana’s sister Ann and her husband Samuel Read (occupation given as grocers shopman).

The 1891 EW Census records Georgiana living at the Suffolk Fishery pub in Anguish Street in Lowestoft with her husband John and children Herbert, Gertrude, Mabel and Florence. John is described as a carpenter and a publican.

Her husband John died in 1891.

Georgiana held the licence for the Suffolk Fishery pub until 1899 when she transferred it to Alfred Howlett of the Evening Star.

The 1901 EW Census shows Georgiana living at 4 Spurgeon Square in Lowestoft in Suffolk as a widower with her children Herbert (married and occupation a mechanical engineer) and his wife Jessie and their five month old daughter also called Jessie; Annie; Gertrude and Gertrude’s husband James Freestone, a fisherman.

The 1911 EW Census records Georgiana working as a domestic cook in the household of George Walker, farmer and miller merchant, at Melbourne House, North Walsham in Norfolk.

The 1921 EW Census records Georgiana living with her son Herbert and his family in Sheepgate, Beccles in Suffolk.

Georgiana passed away on 24 July 1927 at 4 Exchange Square, Beccles in Suffolk. Her daughter Beatrice, of the same address, registered the death.[3]
