Mary Ann was born on the 7 September 1829 in the Market Town of Saffron Walden, in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. She is the daughter of Moses Fletcher and Rebecca Bacon.

Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church, after Banns, by me, R. Lee, Rector. This marriage was solemnized between us, Peter Lagden his X mark and Mary Ann Fletcher her X mark in the Presence of us, William Marsh his X mark and Ann Marsh her X mark[3].
Mary Ann appears, on the night of the Census Record of 1841, living with her parents Moses Elias (Fletcher) and Rebecca (Bacon), along with siblings Moses, Sarah, James and Jane (Fletcher); her aunt, Ruth (Bacon) and Ruth's son Henry (Bacon). They reside at East Street (south side), in the Market Town of Saffron Walden, Essex, England[4]. However, by the arrival of the Census of 1851, Peter (Lagden) has married Mary Ann (Fletcher) and they live with their infant daughter, Mary Ann (Lagden) at 12 Hope Terrace, Bromley, District of Poplar, London & Middlesex, England[5].
The family have moved to 3 Richard Street, Bow, District of Poplar, Parish of St. Leonard Bromley, in London & Middlesex, England with the Census of 1861. Peter and Mary Ann reside there with children Mary Ann, Emily "Emiline", Thomas and Francis (Lagden)[6]. On the night of the Census of 1871, Peter (Lagden) and Mary Ann (Fletcher) live with children Mary Ann, Emily "Emiline", Thomas, Peter, Jane Maria, William James and Susan Rebecca (Lagden) and Lodger, John (Driscoll). They reside at 2 Mary Place, Chrisp Street, in the District of Poplar, London & Middlesex, England[7].
Mary Ann (Fletcher) passes away on the 15 May 1876 at 2 Mary Place, Chrisp Street, District of Poplar, Middlesex & London, England. She was closer to 47 years old at the time even though her death record states she was 51 and the cause of death will be on her Certificate[8]. Her burial takes place on Monday the 22 May 1876 at 4.00 pm at the City of London and Tower Hamlets Cemetery (aka Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park), Southern Grove, in the City of London, Middlesex & London, England. Her grave is located at grave number 915[9].
