Owen was born in 1883 in the Colony of South Australia. He is the son of Thomas Flint and Sara Lester.
Private Owen Thomas Flint enlisted into the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on the 12 December 1914. His Next of Kin was listed as his Father, Thomas Phillip Flint of Mount Waverley, Victoria. He served with the 9th Battalion, 3rd Reinforcements this unit embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on board HMAT A49 Seang Choon on 13 February 1915. He continued to serve with the 9th Battalion and returned to Australia 30 December 1918.
