He was the husband of Ethel Mae (Quinn) Fortenberry. They were married on November 19, 1923 in Etowah County, Alabama.

C.N. Fortenberry, 84, 302 Preston Ave., Attalla, died Friday in a local hospital after a long illness.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel, Attalla, with the Revs. Dean Hampton and Jimmy Bailey officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Survivors: wife, Mrs. Ethel Fortenberry; daughters, Vivian McClure and Nancy Noble, Attalla, Evelyn Panky, Albertville; sons, Everett Fortenberry, Nashville, Tenn., Ray T. Harris, Attalla; sister, Pearl Davis, Gadsden; brother, Floyd Fortenberry, Johnson City, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers: deacons of Cherry Street Baptist Church and all personal friends.
Mr. Fortenberry was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County. He was a member and deacon of Cherry Street Baptist Church.
The body will remain at the funeral home through the hour of service. The family will receive friends after 2:30 p.m. today.
