Grenville Fortescue married Adelaide J Jephson on 27 Nov 1912. The marriage was registered in Kensington, London in the last quarter of the year.[5]

Capt Grenville Fortescue was killed in action at Laventie, France on 4 Sep 1915 - he is buried at Rue-du-Bacquerot (13th London) Graveyard in Laventie.[6]
