Biography

Grenville Fortescue was born on 15 Mar 1887 in Chelsea, London, England to Arthur Grenville Fortescue and Lilla Gertrude Ellen (Fane) Fortescue. His birth was registered in Chelsea in the second quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Fane.^[1]

In 1891 Grenville Fortescue (age 4) lived at Hudscott in Chittlehampton, Devon with his father Arthur G (32, Coldstream Guard), mother Gertrude (34), cousin Mary Astley (31), and eight servants.^[2]
